VARCO team, including mpWAV, took 2nd place in the ‘2021 Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge 3rd Competition’ held from November 12 to 14, 2021.

The “Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge” is a challenge and competitive R&D competition in which participants compete for their skills based on preliminary research voluntarily conducted to solve the presented problem. The 2021 Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge 3rd Competition, which was held under the theme of Understanding and Responding to the Situation of Complex Disaster, dealt with a total of four problems (action recognition, speech recognition, object recognition, and optimization and lightweighting of AI models).

mpWAV has teamed up with NCsoft Corp., UBPI Corp., and Intelligent Information Processing Lab at Sogang University. This joint team was finally selected as the second place and received a follow-up research grant of KRW 475 million and was awarded the Minister of Science and ICT Award. In addition, it is qualified to participate in the final stage of the “Artificial Intelligence Grand Challenge” to be held next year.
